About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a proactive, enthusiastic individual to join the Pathways team  Pathways is one of 29 partnerships working to deliver the Office for Students (OFS) current collaborative widening participation scheme – Uni Connect.

Working as a key member of the Pathways team (which is comprised of staff based across Loughborough University, University of Leicester, De Montfort University, and Loughborough, Leicester College), this role involves working with learners across a number of local schools to offer impartial Information, Advice and Guidance to learners where there is low progression into higher education, exploring their potential and supporting them in considering all of their options. Using the facilities, knowledge and experience of our five partner organisations, the post holder will help shape and deliver a range of bespoke outreach workshops, events and initiatives to raise awareness of routes into, and opportunities offered by, Higher Education.

Day to day you will be working with students aged 11+ in school and community settings to understand their knowledge and understanding of the opportunities available through education and training and will support them to overcome any barriers, real or perceived, to following a path into HE and inevitably, the world of work.

Based at the University of Leicester the role will work closely with colleagues across the Future Students Office specifically with the the wider Schools and Colleges Outreach Team. You will work with colleagues employed to work on the Pathways project but based across organisations as one collaborative, enthusiastic and supportive team.

About you

This role requires someone who would enjoy and feel confident working with learners  aged 11+ and who genuinely believes that successful progression in education whether to university, higher or degree apprenticeships or any other form of higher education, can lead to great opportunities and outcomes.

You will be enthusiastic, team minded and able to maintain your energy and positivity when there are challenges to be overcome or where progress feels slow. You will have in interest in young people, equality, education and community and will be given time and support to access a lot of training and personal development opportunities within this role.
