About the role

We are seeking a highly self-motivated Research Associate to join the Behavioural Science team within the Diabetes Research Centre, Division of Global, Lifestyle and Metabolic Health. Based at the Leicester Diabetes Centre at Leicester General Hospital, you will contribute to a portfolio of externally funded research focused on the management of long-term conditions, including type 2 diabetes.

Working independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams, you will help design and evaluate behaviour-change interventions and lead elements of mixed-methods research. Your work will include qualitative data collection and analysis, systematic reviews, survey design and analysis, research participant recruitment, grant applications and the preparation of findings for journals, reports and conferences. You will also have opportunities to support teaching, develop collaborations, contribute to research impact and knowledge exchange, and guide colleagues and students.

About you

You will hold a PhD, or equivalent, in health psychology, behavioural science or applied health research, together with knowledge of managing multiple long-term conditions such as type 2 diabetes. You will bring expertise in qualitative and quantitative mixed-methods research, proven analytical and problem-solving abilities, and evidence of contributing to peer-reviewed publications and grant applications.

You will be an effective and collegiate researcher who can work autonomously while building positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Excellent written and verbal communication, strong organisational skills and close attention to detail will be essential, alongside a commitment to continuing professional development.
