About the role

We are seeking a Research Assistant to join the Respiratory Sciences team at the University of Leicester and support an NIHR Application Development Award focused on designing an inclusive Post-Acute Infection Syndrome (PAIS) platform trial. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to impactful health research through the delivery of rapid evidence syntheses, including data analysis, interpretation of findings and preparation of research outputs for publication in peer-reviewed journals.

Working closely with the research team, you will support the acquisition, evaluation and interpretation of research data, undertake high-quality analyses using appropriate methods and contribute to the development of research approaches and techniques. You will assist with literature searches, contribute to publications and dissemination activities, and engage with collaborators to advance the research programme. As part of the University of Leicester community, you will work within an environment that values inclusivity, inspires innovation and seeks to deliver meaningful impact through research excellence.

About you

You will have an honours degree or equivalent relevant experience, together with practical experience of applying research skills and techniques to deliver high-quality outputs. You will be able to demonstrate research productivity through activities such as publications, conference presentations or other scholarly outputs. A Master's degree, PhD, or current doctoral study would be advantageous.

You will possess excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively as part of a collaborative research team. We are looking for someone who can demonstrate enthusiasm for the subject area, a commitment to continuous professional development and the ability to contribute positively to an inclusive research culture that values diverse perspectives and academic freedom. Applications are welcomed from all suitably qualified candidates, and selection will be based solely on merit and suitability for the role in accordance with the University's commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and freedom of speech within the law.

Informal enquiries are welcome and should be made to Rachael Evans at [email protected]

As part of the University’s ongoing commitment to professional development, this role will also be considered on a seconded basis for existing staff members. Please ensure this is discussed with your line manager prior to applying. More information regarding secondments can be found here
