About the role

The University of Leicester is seeking to appoint co-opted members to join its Audit and Assurance Committee.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the governance and assurance of a leading UK university, supporting robust oversight, transparency and accountability at a critical time for the higher education sector.

The Audit and Assurance Committee plays a central role in advising Council on the effectiveness of the University’s systems of risk management, internal control, governance and assurance, including internal and external audit.

Practical details
Time commitment: Up to c. 20 hours per year
Meetings: Typically five meetings per year

Remuneration: Unremunerated (reasonable expenses reimbursed)

About you

What we’re looking for
We are particularly interested in individuals who can bring:

A strong understanding of audit, risk management and assurance
Senior experience in finance, governance, regulation or public accountability
The confidence to provide independent challenge and constructive scrutiny
A commitment to the values and mission of higher education
A commitment to the University of Leicester values of inclusivity, impact and inspiring

Prior experience of serving on an audit committee or equivalent body is highly desirable.
