About the role

We are looking for an interdisciplinary early career researcher to join our team as a Research Associate in Applied Mathematics. Funded by HorizonEurope ClimTIP, you will be joining a collaborative project focusing on tipping points in the Earth system. Your responsibilities will include developing theory and software tools, and analysis of large data sets coming from climate models and observations. By combining response theory with data-driven methods, you will support the development of rigorous early warning indicators flagging the occurrence of tipping points.

As part of the team, you will also visit academic partners in the UK and overseas, attend international conferences to share and present scientific results, and support the collation and preparation of reports and scientific publications.

About you
With a PhD in mathematics, physics, Earth sciences, or a cognate discipline, you should be able to demonstrate strong knowledge of mathematical models behind critical transitions. This should also include advanced knowledge of climate dynamics. Previous research experience, particularly on funded research projects, is also ideal, particularly alongside reporting and presentation experience.
