About the role

This post is funded through a research grant investigating the mechanisms and clinical response to acute muscle wasting in exacerbations of COPD following hospitalization.

The candidate will undertake a clinical research project to understand the pathophysiology of COPD and response to novel interventions in experimental medicine studies. Specifically this role will support a clinical trial looking at the impact of hospitalisation due to exacerbations of COPD on the skeletal muscle. You will be expected to undertake data and laboratory analyses and write up your findings in leading journals and to submit for a higher degree.

About you

The candidate should have MRCP or equivalent and ideally be in/at the point of a numbered training programme. This would be best suited to someone with an interest in Respiratory Medicine, though could come from an Acute Medicine or Geriatric background.
