Digital Transformation is at the heart of our recently released 10-year strategy, and we have the ambition to expand our technology capabilities, to enable innovation, and deliver better services for our students and staff. This is an exciting time in Digital Services as we transform with pace and agility, to help the University achieve its vision to provide inspiring education and research, working in partnership with our communities to become a truly inclusive university.
There is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Systems Administrator to join our Research Computing Services team, where you will be responsible for ensuring consistent availability, efficient and secure operation of Linux services used by the research community within the University.
The University’s Research Computing Services team manages an estate of 900 servers, with 48000 CPU cores and 10PB of data across four HPC systems, including the DiRAC 2 and 3 National HPC services, a campus HPC service and a novel NVIDIA/ARM based GPU cluster. Our researchers also make use of EPSRC Tier2 HPC facilities (HPC Midlands+ and the Cambridge Service for Data Driven Discovery), CEDA/JASMIN, ARCHER and DiRAC.
In addition to focusing on core technologies, you will actively pursue modernisation of our technology and infrastructure to use next generation technologies. The role and the team are continually evolving, hence this role would ideally suit an individual who can adapt to change. As a reward, you will have the opportunity to improve your career prospects as well as further expand your skills, knowledge and experience.
