About the role

We are looking for a Research Associate to join us as a member of the Reproductive Sciences Research Group headed by Professor Bee K Tan. You'll work within the Department of Cardiovascular Sciences, with your principal task being conducting research focused on metabolic and cardiovascular aspects of human reproduction. You will identify and investigate novel genes and factors, pursuing diagnostic applications for implementation purposes and further identifying and characterising cellular and molecular mechanisms of disease as therapeutic targets.

As a Research Associate you will take a lead role in experimental design, determining the direction of the program in line with reaching the goals of the group’s research projects. You will plan and carry out the work programme and contribute to the overall research programme using innovative research models and approaches - testing and developing them to enable work to be carried out that will result in the emergence of new understanding within the research field.

This post gives the opportunity for the right candidate to make a significant contribution to research of high clinical impact.
About you

The successful candidate will hold a PhD in an appropriate discipline with significant, wide-ranging experience working in biomarker research, molecular and cell biology experiments. You will also be able to provide evidence of your research productivity throughout your career.

We are looking for a self-starter with a passion for the subject matter. With a good analytical and problem solving capability, you will also have excellent planning and organisation skills. You'll be comfortable working in a team environment, having effective interpersonal skills and the ability to plan, implement and deliver programmes of work.

Good communication skills are essential, and you must be enthusiastic about working with scientists and industry experts from complementary disciplines. You will be pro-active and motivated by working toward the emergence of new understanding within the field.
