About the role
Our School of Geography, Geology and the Environment are currently looking to recruit a Research Assistant in mineralogy / geochemistry. The purpose of this role is to work on a project to develop the application of Deep Eutetic Solvent (DES) technology to mineral processing. The project is funded by Argo, which seeks to commercialise this Technology. You will work within the Centre for Sustainable Resource Extraction in collaboration with the Materials Centre in Chemistry. You will focus on characterisation of test materials (ores, concentrates, tailings) and leached residues for mineralogy texture and geochemistry in order to assess the suitability of different solvents.
About you
You will hold a Masters level qualification in Applied Geology, Mineralogy, Geochemistry (or another relevant subject). With relevant professional experience you will have experience of project work with industrial partners. You will have proven analytical and technical problem-solving capability and be able to work to tight deadlines and working on your own initiative.
