About the role

We are looking for a proactive, enthusiastic Research Associate to be the lead researcher responsible for the day-to-day delivery of the CHARMER definitive trial. The successful candidate will work closely with the work package leads and co-chief investigators, plus mobilise the wider team as necessary to ensure that CHARMER is delivered to time and budget.

The Comprehensive Geriatrician-led Medication Review (CHARMER) programme, is a five-year project funded by NIHR Programme Grant for Applied Research and led by the University of Leicester. Collaborators are at the universities of Leeds, East Anglia, York, Newcastle, Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Cambridge University NHS Foundation Trust.

The project in its first two and a half years, refined and feasibility tested a behaviour change intervention to increase proactive deprescribing by hospital geriatricians and pharmacists. This autumn, the definitive stepped-wedge trial will commence to test the CHARMER intervention across multiple hospitals with 22,000 patients.

Our patient and public members are fully embedded into the team and attend all CHARMER meetings. They also lead their own projects in CHARMER, most notably designing and implementing the dissemination strategy.

About you
The successful candidate will hold a PhD (or equivalent) in an appropriate discipline or will have an equivalent professional qualification and experience. Furthermore, we are looking for an individual with experience working as a senior member of a health services research programme and someone who has sound knowledge of behavioural science theories and frameworks.
