About the role

Over the past year the department has intensified its collaboration and research in drone operations. We established close links with Search and Rescue teams and local companies, and are now building a new system that will increase capacity of the search and rescue organisation as well as increase the chance of successfully completing individual operations.

This new software package will incorporate our existing prototypes as well supports drone usage in wide a range of search and rescue operations. The software package includes parts which will run on the drones, on the ground stations or on remote locations like a control room. It will handle drone management, communication and control as well as image and sensor data collection and dissemination.

In this role you will support the design and development of the software package, by designing and implementing subsystems as well as contributing to communication design between different subsystems. You will also document the software as well as support testing.

About you
With a first class BSc degree or an MSc degree with distinction that contains substantial software development components as well as the ability to programme in C++ or similar, you will also have the ability to write software documentation. Though not essential, you may also have experience with a QT programming environment as well as with Drone programming.
