About the role

Joining a collaborative programme between the University of Leicester and the NIHR-funded consortia within our NIHR Biomedical research Centre (BRC) you will undertake a clinical research project which focusses on investigating novel treatments for sequelae after a hospital admission with COVID-19.  The post will include undertaking a multi-centre randomised controlled trial linked to industry with options to include laboratory science and imaging. The projects follow-on from the successful UK Post-Hospital COVID-19 (PHOSP-COVID) study with opportunity for further exploratory analyses. 

You will be responsible for patient recruitment, consent and sample collection, data-analysis, working with a UK wide study team, writing manuscripts and disseminating your results. 

As part of this role you may co-supervise MSc and BSc project students within own area of speciality, and you will have the opportunity to be involved in undergraduate and post-graduate teaching of medical students and junior doctors.

About you

The post is suitable for a clinically trained investigator, particularly those in specialist training or those eligible and planning to enter the specialist training grade for respiratory medicine/infectious diseases, and who are interested in pursuing a period of full-time research leading to a higher degree (MD or PhD).

You must be a GMC registered medical practitioner holding a licence to practice and possessing & MB BS or equivalent.
