About the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Engineering Apprentice to join The University of Leicester technical team. You will be based in the Chemistry Department workshop but will gain a variety of training in the Physics & Astronomy workshop within the College of Science and Engineering.

You will assist with the design, development and the use of engineering drawings to manufacture components to high tolerances while utilising various manual & CNC machine tools. Training will be provided as part of the apprenticeship programme.

An apprenticeship is a job with an accompanying skills development programme. Through your apprenticeship, you will gain the technical knowledge, practical experience and wider skills needed for your immediate job and future career. You will gain this through a wide mix of learning in the workplace; formal off-the-job training at level 3 and the opportunity to practise new skills in a real work environment.
About you
We are looking for someone who has achieved four grade C/4 GCSE (or equivalent) including Mathematics, Science & English and level 1 or 2 on a mechanical engineering course, e.g. PEO/BTEC/C&G or gained equivalent industry experience.

You will be keen to progress in the world of engineering and who has a real passion and desire to understand the workings of machinery and a flair for fixing and solving mechanical problems.
