About the role

Working both independently and as part of a team you will provide specialist technical support over a range of different specialities (Genetic and Cancer). In this varied role you will ensure laboratory facilities at cross-site locations are maintained to a high standard to meet the needs of research groups.  You will have specific responsibility for maintaining Drosophilia stocks, provide support to teaching on the department's undergraduate and postgraduate modules, organising and preparing materials and providing advice and supervision to students.

About you

You will bring to the role excellent technical skills, gained either through a technical or scientific education to ONC or NVQ3 level or substantial relevant technical work experience, along with a well developed understanding of Health and Safety policies and procedures. 

Excellent communication skills are essential in order to convey technical and operational information to a wide range of people and you must be confident working independently and under your own initiative to resolve issues.

Experience of insect husbandry and range of molecular biology techniques would be beneficial, as would experience supporting undergraduate practical modules.
