About the role

The Division of Library and Learning Services are seeking to appoint an exceptional and highly motivated candidate to the post of Research Services Consultant, with responsibility for the University Library Research Services team bibliometrics portfolio.

Under the leadership of the Head of Research Services in the University Library, this role will provide specialist expertise and support in the area of bibliometrics. This includes working with academic and professional service stakeholders in preparations for REF, providing expert advocacy, advice and support to researchers in the responsible use of metrics in research assessment, and designing and delivering training on bibliometric products such as SciVal and Altmetrics.  

This is a key role in the division, acting as an advocate for and promoting the University Library’s role in supporting the research cycle and the institutional implementation of DORA. The role holder will be responsible for planning, creating, and delivering information sessions and online training around responsible research metrics to ensure awareness of and compliance with these principles.

About you
As the ideal applicant, you will be educated to degree level, and hold a research degree or have experience of working in a research environment. You will have demonstrable knowledge of the information and support needs of researchers, and of supporting bibliometric activities and the responsible use of metrics.
