Job Purpose

As part of the fast-paced development team, the university are looking for an enthusiastic and driven .NET/O365 Developer who is keen to work with other talented developers to help drive a more digitally connected campus.

You will be joining a well-established institution during a time of transformation and change as they adapt to more agile ways of working. They are looking for an established developer who has experience working in Agile/scrum environments and can continue to develop capabilities in this area. 

Working within an innovative and vibrant environment your role will be focussed on the development of key digital products, exploiting .NET C#, Office 365: SharePoint, Azure, Power BI, Teams and other key Office 365 products, using  MS Graph, PowerApps, Flow and Modern Web Parts. You will work across a broad stakeholder community and the full development lifecycle from analysis and design through to implementation and testing.

Job Responsibilities

You will ideally have experience of developing and implementing software solutions in .NET and Office 365 in an HE environment and be keen to develop alongside established developers and specialists. Working within IT and the wider University, you will analyse both technical and functional requirements, helping prepare proposals to provide innovative solutions and services to a broad user community in an Agile and traditional software development life cycle.

About you

As a Student Systems Developer, you will have experience in some of the following technologies:

  • NET Development
    • .NET (C# and VB.NET) , MVC, Javascript, jQuery, HTML, CSS, XML
    • Web Services (especially RESTful)
    • SQLServer (SQL) (2008 - 2014)
  • Office 365 development using Microsoft's Office 365 API
  • SharePoint and 365 suite
  • Azure and Azure AD
  • Integration of the above using the REST APIs

In addition you will have:

  • Experience of working across the full development lifecycle from analysis through to implementation and testing in both Agile and more traditional environments.
  • Experience of working within a project environment where you have demonstrated analytical thinking
  • Experience of large corporate applications, key business systems or experience of student management systems would be extremely desirable
  • You will be a self-motivated and dynamic individual who is able to challenge and influence others, negotiate, develop and maintain collaborative working relationships across IT and non-IT departments at all levels.
  • High level, proven inter-personal and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to lead and motivate a team of diverse IT professionals.
  • Ability to communicate and facilitate both technical and non-technical solutions workshops
