About the role

We are looking for a teaching-focused Lecturer in Inorganic Chemistry to join the School of Chemistry at the University of Leicester. This post provides the opportunity for those wanting to develop academic and teaching excellence and to contribute to the ambitions of the School and wider University.

You will work as part of a vibrant team delivering innovative teaching across a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. This includes delivering lectures, classes and seminars, curriculum development, designing and marking assessments, personal tutoring, responding to student queries, outreach activities and employer engagement. You will support the enhancement of teaching and learning in our school by contributing proactively to the administration of modules and continually improving your own understanding and application of learning and teaching. You will also help us to deliver teaching in China under the auspices of the Dalian Leicester Institute. You will be able to join other colleagues as part of our ‘flying faculty’ team who will travel to China and deliver intensive teaching in short blocks of time (typically two weeks).

As a teaching-focused lecturer, you will also engage in scholarship and publication that enhances teaching and learning within the School and further establishes its external reputation.

We will support you in developing your teaching career and, in turn, you will play a key role in ensuring our continued success and fulfilling our future ambitions.

About you

We are looking for an enthusiastic educator capable of inspiring interest, curiosity and drive for learning in our students. You will have a real passion for the subject matter and be motivated to provide the very best experience for our students using your expertise and skill to ensure all reach their potential.

You will be comfortable facilitating student learning using a range of delivery methods including lectures, seminars and tutoring – online and face to face. You will be confident in reviewing, evaluating and developing the key skills of students and able to develop resource materials, always with a focus on enhancing teaching quality.
