About the role
Joining a collaborative programme between the University of Leicester and the NIHR-funded consortia within our NIHR Biomedical research Centre (BRC) you will undertake a clinical research project which focusses on understanding the treatment and pathogenesis of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The posts will include undertaking experimental medicine studies linked to industry and will include clinical trials, laboratory science and lung imaging. 

You will be responsible for patient recruitment and consent and sample collection, preparation and analysis employing your high-level specialist techniques and procedures
 
As part of this role you will co-supervise MSc and BSc project students within own area of speciality and you will have the opportunity to be involved in undergraduate and post-graduate teaching of medical students and junior doctors.
About you
The post is suitable for a clinically trained investigator, particularly those in specialist training for respiratory medicine, or for those eligible and planning to enter the specialist training grade who wish to pursue a career in respiratory medicine, and who are interested in pursuing a period of full time research leading to a higher degree (MD or PhD).
 
You must be a GMC registered medical practitioner holding a licence to practice and possessing MRCP (UK) & MB BS or equivalent. You will be able to evidence your desire to pursue a career in respiratory medicine. As the successful candidate, you will have experience at ST3 or above in respiratory medicine, or equivalent and excellent statistical knowledge and understanding.
