About the role

As part of our technology journey we are looking to invest in our core network. Over the next few years we will be running a programme of modernisation and optimisation and as part of this programme we need a Senior Network Engineer to help us exploit newer technologies that will enable us to update our network.

As a delivery focused Senior Network Engineer, you will work closely with our wider IT team to understand how we can improve and modernise our network to enhance both the capability, security and operational efficiency of our Wired & Wireless Network infrastructure and network services.

As part of this key role within our Infrastructure team, you will also provide guidance and mentoring to 2 network engineers to help build capabilities and provide development opportunities around new and innovative network technologies. You will be one of four technical leads in our Infrastructure team, reporting to the Head of Infrastructure, and working closely together to optimise and enhance service provision across, network, data centre, storage, servers, virtualisation and research focused (e.g. HPC) services.

About you

You will have substantial experience working in a complex IT organisation, with a background in in the design, implementation and administration of network services using some or all of the following technologies:

  • IP and Ethernet networks, switching and routing
  • Wireless networking: hardware and software/mgmt. services
  • Network hardware and management tools
  • Firewalls
  • IPAM technologies
  • Network monitoring tools

 You will have highly developed analytical, problem solving and research skills.
