About the role

An exciting opportunity has become available for an enthusiastic and self-motivated Computer Science post-graduate to work closely with Bloc Graphics Limited (trading as Bloc Digital) in order to introduce the capability with a view to develop a system that can semantically mine a live data stream and parse it so that it can be visualised in an augmented reality solution.

Established in 2000, Bloc Digital is a specialist in the creation and re-use of digital information. Activities within the company are split between four complementary disciplines: modelling, animation, augmented and virtual reality and web and data analytics.

About you

Qualifications

The Associate should be a postgraduate in Computer Science with an engineering focus, particularly in the area of visualising engineering products.  A PhD in Computer Science is desirable - MSc or MPhil in a relevant subject essential.

The Associate should have the following skill set and expertise:

  • Natural Language Processing
  • Machine Learning
  • Algorithm design and development
  • Data analytics
  • Data Management, Data Standardisation and Data Storage
  • Implementation of Algorithms
  • Integration of machine learning and analysis to provide business intelligence
  • Real-time streaming and analytics
  • Development and deployment of machine learning algorithms in large scale data environments
  • The Associate will need to be a "people person" and will be an excellent communicator
  • Ability to manage and work towards tight deadlines

It is essential that the Associate:

  • Is a compelling communicator
  • Understands change management, culture and behavior
  • Has the ability to develop processes and procedures to implement change
  • Can work as part of a team but also be "autonomous"
  • Has strong interpersonal skills and relationship building capability
  • Can manage and work towards tight deadlines
  • Adapts quickly and understand new industrial environments

Salary

£24,000 - £28,000 per annum depending on qualifications and experience, plus a £5,000 personal development budget.

This appointment is for a period of 24 months on a fixed term contract basis with a strong possibility of conversion into a permanent R&D role at Fishbone Solutions Ltd subject to performance and suitable role availability.

Location

Bloc Graphics Ltd, Unit 10, Derwent Business Centre Clarke Street, Derby, DE1 2BU, UK with regular travel to the University of Leicester.
