About the role

Our School of Engineering at the University of Leicester is seeking to make an academic appointment who will conduct teaching and research in the School. In this role you will make a significant contribution to research in a priority area for the School and play an active role in the development and delivery of teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. This includes the development of course materials as well as providing student support via tutorials and electronic feedback.

The role includes an expectation of growing excellence in research and the ability to develop and deliver courses and materials to enhance teaching delivery, and to support the work of the School in developing and enhancing its reputation, both internal and external to the University.

About you

With a PhD and research track record or equivalent industrial experience in an area relevant to existing School research activity in:

  • digital communications (intelligent communications, wireless communication theory and techniques, cross-layer design and information theory)
  • aeronautical control engineering (flight control systems, handling qualities, autonomy, flight simulation)
  • computational fluid dynamics (e.g. DNS/LES of turbulent flows including shear flows, wall-bounded flows, and urban environment simulation),
  • materials modelling (e.g. atomistic, molecular dynamic, multi-scale modelling on metal and alloys or energy storage materials),
  • bioengineering (e.g. biomaterials, biomechanics),
  • materials characterisation and advanced metals processing,

You will be able to demonstrate excellence in research and teaching and be a self-starter who is motivated by providing the very best experience for our students, contributing and growing our current curriculum.
