About the role

Providing vital support to the teaching of undergraduate medical students in the first two years of their course, you will supervise four study groups of eight students from years 1 and 2 of the MB ChB course in their completion of workbook activities. You will support teaching during early clinical placements, developing students' knowledge and skills so they can make a smooth transition into full-time clinical training in year 3 and maximise their student experience.

In light of current COVID restrictions, our teaching is provided both virtually (online) and face-to-face.  Your role will also include a variety of other educational activities such as teaching examination skills; involvement in our range of clinical simulation; and assessment activities such as question writing, standard setting, and marking (both written and OSCE assessments).

This role provides an excellent opportunity to develop your teaching and educational skills, offering useful preparation for some Royal College postgraduate examinations. You will have the opportunity to achieve an Accredited Teaching Qualification, and gain experience for a possible future teaching role in medical or higher education.

About you

Applicants must hold MB ChB or equivalent and have completed satisfactorily two years of Foundation Training, or the equivalent, at the time of taking up their post together with full GMC registration. All applicants should have experience in higher education, preferably medical education, be able to demonstrate an interest in clinical education and be able to highlight the importance, significance and relevance of basic science in clinical medicine and practice.
