About the role
This is a varied role in a skilled team that provides technical support to UoL trades staff and contractor management. As a Reactive Maintenance Electrical Technician, you will plan, prepare and carry out building services technical work for all University buildings, interrogating building services systems. In addition, you will manage approved contractors to carry out maintenance work within a Reactive Maintenance team, engaging contractors through procurement and provide day-to-day management, whilst ensuring that services and supplies provided achieve good value for money for the University.

You will manage Approved Contractors at operational level allocating and prioritising work. This will include organising site visits, site access, Permits, Review Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMs) and quality control, allocating and prioritising their work to deliver a range of services.

You will diagnose and take responsibility to deliver the rectification of faults/problems with university assets, systems and procedures within set Service Level Agreements (SLAs) or as agreed with customers and stakeholders. You will also undertake specialist maintenance work that has been escalated from the helpdesk independently, organising your own workload to meet SLAs and to ensure that day-to-day customer service is delivered.

About you
To join us, you will need current trade qualifications, plus either a relevant HNC qualification or a substantial level of experience in a role like this. You will be a team player with good communication skills and be able to demonstrate the ability to organise your own activities and that of others to meet deadlines, achieve high quality standards and value for money. Knowledge of health and safety compliance within the construction/maintenance industry is vital. Ideally, your skills will span electrical and mechanical systems, plus knowledge of building fabric, wet trades and carpentry.
