About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Marketing and Communications Team as a Press Officer.

Working within our busy Media Team, you will be responsible for helping to drive the University’s reputation externally, by working with academics and stakeholders to showcase our ground breaking work.

The main focus of the role will be to support the running of the press office, being the first point of contact for media enquiries and supporting the Media Relations Manager to deliver the highest quality corporate communications. You will provide good media management to ensure we improve our share of voice across a range of local, national and international outlets and ultimately grow our impact and outperform our competitors across the globe.

About you

As our ideal candidate, you will be educated to A-Level or hold equivalent experience of working in a busy press office.

We are looking for a confident communicator with a nose for a story, an excellent writer and who can manage conflicting priorities. Experience of writing news stories, press releases, social media posts, Q&As, media briefings and reactive statements is an essential part of the role.

Excellent standards of accuracy, consistency and attention to detail is a must, coupled with excellent writing, proofing and editing skills.
