About the role

About Creative Computing

The University of Leicester is ranked one of the top 200 universities in the world and top 25 in the UK according to the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2020. Creative Computing is an exciting and innovative new transdisciplinary field in the university. It is based in the School of Informatics, which is focussed on excellence in everything we do. Working hard together, our ambitious staff and students work in cooperation to deliver research, teaching and learning of the highest quality. The School provides a rich and culturally diverse environment where both students and staff can thrive in a demanding yet cooperative and friendly atmosphere.

The excellence of the School’s research has been confirmed in the last two national research assessment exercises (in 2008 and 2014). In each exercise, 95% of our research was judged to be of international quality, 65% was judged to be internationally leading, and over 20% of our research outputs world-leading.

Creative Computing comprises a new BA/BSc undergraduate programme which is delivered by a core team of four staff and many other staff from Schools across the university including Informatics, Psychology, Management, Geography, Creative Writing, Medicine, Media and Communications and more. It also works closely with industry, including the university's Attenborough Arts Centre and an array of small to medium, and large, enterprises in the creative digital technology and games sectors. It is also developing rapidly its own research agenda, in areas such as software engineering and games, virtual reality and interactivity, music and digital arts.

About the Position

Your research will result in significant contributions to papers in leading international conferences and journals, whilst helping to build your relationships with external partners to support knowledge transfer and impact outside academia.

You will deliver high-quality teaching and student support for our undergraduate and postgraduate students. This includes delivering lectures, labs and seminars, designing and marking assessments, personal tutoring, responding to student queries and attending social events. You will support the enhancement of teaching and learning in our school by contributing proactively to the administration of modules and continually improving your own understanding and application of learning and teaching.

You will work in a very supportive environment with research and teaching mentoring. At the heart of the UK, the University of Leicester is a research-intensive university. Different areas of activity are balanced by a workload model to ensure fair and transparent balance between staff and different areas of activity.

There is a full time, open ended position available.

About you
