About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join an ambitious and expanding Clinical Trials Unit (CTU).  Established in 2009, Leicester CTU is a UKCRC-registered Unit with a growing portfolio of clinical trials in a wide range of clinical areas, including cancer, cardiovascular disease, respiratory disease, diabetes and mental health. The Unit employs a multidisciplinary team of statisticians, trial management staff, quality management staff, database developers, IT programmers and administrators.

We are an enterprising and innovative Unit, aiming to provide expert, solution-focussed and flexible support to our customers. Our staff are central to achieving this, and we’re looking for committed, dynamic and talented people to join our existing team.

We currently have a vacancy for an appropriately skilled and experienced individual to lead on all aspects of IT and database development in the CTU. This includes input to the strategic direction of the IT and database development function, and responsibility for delivery of an efficient and effective IT and database development service to underpin all other activities in the CTU.

About you

The role of Head of CTU IT and Database Development is pivotal to the successful delivery of a highly-valued and sought-after specialised service within the CTU; as such, we are looking to appoint an individual with substantial experience of building, managing and developing IT service delivery teams. You will need to be an innovative thinker, able to create novel IT and database solutions to meet the requirements of our customers within a strictly regulated environment.

You will need to demonstrate that you have experience of working within a quality-assured system and of developing in SQL and .Net, and that you have extensive knowledge of IT systems and databases. Vocational experience within a Clinical Trials Unit or the pharmaceutical industry would be beneficial.
