Research Assistant or Research Associate (3 posts)

We are seeking highly motivated Research Assistants or Research Associates to join the Complex Reviews Support Unit (http://www.nihrcrsu.org/) in the Department of Health Sciences. The Unit, funded by the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR), is a multi-centre collaboration between the University of Glasgow, University of Leicester and London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

The role will involve providing synthesis methodological support to review groups funded and/or supported by the NIHR including the Cochrane Collaboration. The primary focus will be to provide support with network meta-analysis and diagnostic test accuracy reviews as well as the development of advanced statistical analyses to address review-specific challenges. In addition to direct liaison  with review teams, there will be an opportunity to develop i) novel data visualisation tools (to aid understanding of complex statistical methodology by non-analysts);ii) web-based apps for data analysis; and/or iii) bespoke training courses in evidence synthesis.

The positions are available as either Research Assistant (Grade 6) or Research Associate (Grade 7) dependant on knowledge, experience and career stage.  Positions are available on either a full time or part time basis (0.5fte minimum) and a job share would also be considered.

About you

As a Research Assistant you will be educated to MSc level in Biostatistics/Medical Statistics, Health Economics,Health Services Research or a closely related area.

You will have experience of undertaking data analysis using statistical software packages (e.g. R, Stata) and an understanding of the principles and methods of systematic review and meta-analysis.

As a Research Associate you will be educated to MSc level in Biostatistics/Medical Statistics, Health Economics,Health Services Research or a closely related area.  You will have a proven ability to contribute to the development of presentations and peer reviewed publications.

You will have high-level experience of i) systematic review and meta-analysis techniques; ii) data analysis using statistical software packages (e.g. R, Stata); and research productivity(including high-quality research publications, presentations).
