About the role

As a Teaching Fellow in Inorganic Chemistry, you will play a key role in delivering engaging teaching, assessment and academic support across core undergraduate chemistry modules. The successful candidate will teach and assess core undergraduate inorganic chemistry modules through lectures, seminars, tutorials, laboratory classes and other learning activities. You will play a key role in supporting student learning, providing academic guidance through Blackboard, discussion forums, office hours and email, and ensuring that module learning outcomes are successfully achieved.

Working closely with colleagues across the programme team, you will contribute to assessment design, marking and feedback, support the delivery of undergraduate laboratory teaching as a senior staff demonstrator, and maintain module content within the Blackboard virtual learning environment. The combines high-quality teaching with internationally recognised research and provides a friendly, supportive environment with excellent facilities for staff and students.

About you

You will hold a PhD, or equivalent qualification, in inorganic chemistry or a closely related discipline and be able to demonstrate excellence in inorganic chemistry together with the ability to teach the subject across undergraduate levels. You will have experience of teaching and/or supervising undergraduate or postgraduate students and a commitment to delivering an outstanding student learning experience. Experience of developing blended or active learning approaches and working with virtual learning environments will be important, as will a willingness to work towards a recognised higher education teaching qualification if you do not already hold one.
