About the role

We are seeking a skilled Cataloguing and Rights Officer to join the Sounds of the Midlands development phase project team.

Led by the University of Leicester and funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, Sounds of the Midlands is a multi-partner initiative to digitally preserve and transform access to at-risk audio heritage collections across the English Midlands.

Working collaboratively with project partners, you will support the development of processes and workflows to inform a future delivery phase funding application. You will undertake cataloguing and rights clearance activities that enhance the discovery of, and access to, sound recordings held across the region.

The post is available on a fixed-term basis for twelve months owing to external funding, with potential for extension subject to further funding.

About you

You will have experience of cataloguing in a library, archive, or museum environment and a strong interest in sound archives. You will have a good working knowledge of copyright and data protection, which you will be able to apply to sound recordings. A team player, you will have excellent communication skills and the ability to build close working relationships with project partners.
