About the role

The University of Leicester is seeking an experienced and motivated Research Fellow to join the Centre for Healthcare Innovation and Policy Management within the School of Business. Based within the Centre’s Translation and Implementation Research theme and funded through the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration East Midlands (ARC EM), you will play a leading role in the design, delivery and management of applied health and care research, including national evaluations, implementation studies and systematic reviews. Working with Professor Gregory Maniatopoulos and Dr Gemma Hughes, you will contribute to an interdisciplinary research environment focused on improving health and care services through evidence-based collaboration with regional, national and international partners.

You will lead the collection, analysis and interpretation of qualitative and mixed-methods research data, manage collaborative projects, publish high-quality research outputs and disseminate findings through journals, reports and conferences. The role also includes developing future funding opportunities, contributing to grant applications, supporting research impact activities and providing mentorship to research staff and postgraduate researchers. This is an exciting opportunity to influence health and care policy and practice while contributing to a wider programme of internationally recognised research.

About you

You will hold a PhD in health services research, sociology, health psychology or a closely related discipline, with substantial experience of applied health and care research. You will bring expertise in implementation science, health services research, qualitative and quantitative methodologies, systematic reviews and research project management. You will also have a strong publication record, experience of securing external research funding, and an understanding of NHS policy and the current health and care research landscape. Experience of recruiting research sites and participants, obtaining ethical approvals and leading the dissemination of research findings is essential.

You will be an excellent communicator who can build productive relationships with academic, clinical and policy stakeholders and work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative research team. You will demonstrate a commitment to professional development, mentoring colleagues and supporting research students, while contributing positively to an interdisciplinary centre that brings together expertise in healthcare innovation, policy, implementation and organisational change. Experience of participatory research, stakeholder engagement or patient and public involvement activities would be advantageous.
