About the role

We are seeking an Associate Professor in Accounting (Teaching Focused) to join the School of Accounting and Finance at the University of Leicester. This role centres on delivering research-inspired education across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, using innovative teaching approaches and contributing to the continuous enhancement of curricula. You will lead high-quality teaching and assessment, support student learning and employability initiatives, and play a key role in shaping educational strategy within the School, including contributing to programme development, quality assurance processes and academic leadership activities.

In addition to your teaching responsibilities, you will contribute to wider academic life through scholarly activity, pedagogic research and engagement with external partners, including industry and professional bodies. The role also involves active participation in public engagement, professional networks and University activities, alongside leadership in management, staff development and recruitment initiatives to support the continued success of the School and University.

About you

You will bring significant experience in accounting, supported by a relevant professional qualification such as ICAEW, ICAS, ACCA or CIMA, or a PhD in a related discipline. You will have a strong track record of delivering excellent teaching to undergraduate and postgraduate students, with experience in curriculum design and the use of innovative, research-informed teaching practices that enhance student outcomes. You will demonstrate commitment to pedagogic development, alongside experience of engaging in academic quality processes, external assessment and collaboration with educational or industry partners.

You will be an effective academic leader, with the ability to motivate and develop colleagues and students while contributing to a collaborative academic environment. Strong interpersonal, organisational and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to teach across a range of accounting subjects using diverse delivery methods. A recognised teaching qualification such as Senior Fellowship of the HEA, or a willingness to achieve this, is expected, alongside evidence of ongoing professional and scholarly development.
