About the role

We are seeking a Teaching Fellow in Economics to join the School of Economics. In this role, you will contribute to established teaching programmes by delivering high-quality teaching and learning across undergraduate and postgraduate modules, supporting both campus-based and distance-learning provision. You will undertake a range of academic duties including lectures, seminars, student supervision, assessment and feedback, pastoral support, and the development of engaging learning materials using appropriate teaching technologies.

Working closely with module and programme leaders, you will play an active part in maintaining and enhancing the School’s reputation for excellent teaching. You will contribute to module design and quality enhancement, support curriculum development where required, coordinate assessment activities, and engage fully in the academic life of the School through committee work, professional development and relevant professional activities.

About you

You will hold a PhD in Economics or a related discipline (or close to completion) or possess equivalent professional qualifications and experience. You will have strong subject knowledge across core areas of economics together with a commitment to delivering high-quality teaching. Experience of, or progress towards, a recognised higher education teaching qualification is essential, and experience of teaching in both campus-based and online environments would be advantageous.

You will be an effective communicator with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and inspire student learning. You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong organisational abilities, and confidence in designing and delivering engaging course materials. The ability to work independently and collaboratively is essential, alongside strong IT skills. Candidates with expertise in data analytics, including Python, Stata, machine learning techniques and the teaching of applied analytics to students, will be particularly welcomed.
