About the role

We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Economics, in an exciting opportunity to join a vibrant and internationally recognised academic community with a strong reputation for research and teaching across economics and the wider business disciplines. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to a School that is committed to advancing knowledge, supporting student success and engaging with organisations and stakeholders to address real-world economic challenges.

You will undertake high-quality research that contributes to the School’s research profile, develop collaborative research activity, publish in leading academic outlets and pursue external funding opportunities. You will contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, supervise student projects and postgraduate researchers, support curriculum development and innovation in learning and teaching, and engage with businesses, policymakers and other stakeholders to enhance the impact of the School’s work. You will also contribute to the wider academic life of the School through leadership, administration and student recruitment activities.

About you

You will hold a PhD in Economics, be close to completion, or possess significant relevant professional experience, together with recognised expertise in an area of economics. You will have an emerging record of high-quality research publications and a research agenda that aligns with the strategic priorities of the School. Experience of teaching undergraduate and/or postgraduate students is essential, along with a commitment to developing excellent and innovative learning experiences.

You will be an effective communicator with excellent written and verbal skills, strong organisational abilities and the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively. You will be motivated to develop an internationally recognised research profile, contribute to securing research funding and create meaningful engagement beyond academia. We particularly welcome candidates who are enthusiastic about working with external partners, supporting postgraduate researchers and contributing to the continued success of economics at the University of Leicester.
