About the role

The University of Leicester is seeking a Marketing Officer to support the National Centre for Earth Observation (NCEO) and its Earth Observation Datahub (EODH) programme, based at Space Park Leicester. This role plays a key part in raising the visibility, profile and uptake of the UK’s first single point of access to public and commercial Earth observation data and processing infrastructure. Working closely with the NCEO Communications and Engagement Manager, the postholder will take responsibility for the management and development of the EODH website, ensuring content is accurate, engaging and accessible to a wide range of audiences including industry, the public sector and researchers.

You will develop and deliver digital marketing activity, including social media, newsletters and campaign materials, to promote the Datahub’s services, outputs and impact. The role also involves analysing digital performance, coordinating content aligned to programme milestones, and working collaboratively with technical and research colleagues to translate complex concepts into clear, user-focused communications. You will contribute to stakeholder engagement activity, support events and campaigns, and ensure alignment with NCEO and University communications.

About you

You will have proven experience working in a marketing, communications or digital content role, with demonstrable expertise in managing website content using a content management system and delivering effective digital marketing activity. You will possess excellent written communication skills and be able to create clear, engaging content for varied audiences, alongside a strong understanding of digital best practice including accessibility, search engine optimisation and user-centred design. Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities independently within a part-time role are essential.

You will be confident working collaboratively with a range of stakeholders, including technical specialists and external partners, and will bring a proactive, solution-focused approach with strong attention to detail. Experience in a research, academic or data-driven environment, along with an interest in environmental science or Earth observation, would be advantageous. Familiarity with analytics tools, social media management and basic digital content creation will further support your success in this role.
