About the role

The University of Leicester is seeking an Associate Professor in Pharmaceutical Science (Teaching and Research focused) to join the School of Healthcare and contribute to the delivery of its innovative MPharm programme. In this role, you will develop and lead internationally recognised research within your field, while embedding high-quality pharmaceutical science teaching that underpins clinical practice across the curriculum. Working closely with the Programme Lead, you will help shape and deliver an integrated degree focused on producing patient-centred pharmacists equipped with robust scientific knowledge and evidence-based decision-making skills. You will contribute to a vibrant academic environment, collaborating with colleagues across the Colleges of Life Sciences and Science and Engineering to enhance interdisciplinary research and teaching

You will play a central role in both research leadership and education, delivering research-led teaching, supervising postgraduate researchers, and fostering strong partnerships with healthcare providers and industry. The role also includes active engagement in public, professional and academic communities, contributing to the University’s strategic themes of Research Inspired Education and Our Citizens. You will be expected to support a range of academic and student-facing activities, including admissions, mentoring, and outreach, while upholding the University's commitment to respectful engagement, the open exchange of ideas. 

About you

You will hold an MPharm degree (minimum 2:1) and a PhD in a pharmaceutical science-related discipline, alongside a strong record of internationally recognised research outputs and success in securing external funding. You will bring experience of teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level, with evidence of excellent student outcomes and a commitment to innovative, inclusive education. A Fellowship of the HEA (or willingness to obtain one) and a proven ability to supervise postgraduate researchers are essential, alongside leadership in research networks and academic collaborations at national and/or international level.

You will be an experienced and collaborative academic with strong interpersonal and organisational skills, able to lead and inspire colleagues and students in a multidisciplinary environment.
