About the role

We are seeking a Recruitment & Community Involvement Assistant to join the EXCEED Study within the Department of Public Health and Epidemiology at the University of Leicester. This role focuses on strengthening relationships between the study and local community networks across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, supporting efforts to widen participation from ethnically diverse communities. You will play an important part in delivering engagement activity, from coordinating recruitment campaigns and community events to developing compelling social media content and promoting the study’s achievements through internal and external channels.

Working closely with colleagues in the EXCEED team and external partners, you will maintain engagement databases, support the development of promotional materials and contribute to the study’s communication strategies. You will also assist in evaluating engagement activity and building relationships with other research projects to inform future recruitment approaches.

About you

You will be an enthusiastic and confident communicator with experience of creating engaging digital content for social media and print, and the ability to tailor your approach for different audiences. You will have strong writing and interpersonal skills, alongside the confidence to engage with a wide range of stakeholders, including community organisations and research teams. Your organisational ability will enable you to manage multiple priorities effectively while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.

You will be comfortable using MS Office applications and ideally have experience with design tools such as Canva or Adobe software. A collaborative mindset and a genuine interest in community engagement are essential, along with a commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion. Experience working with diverse communities or analysing engagement data would be advantageous, as would an understanding of the importance of inclusive research practices.
