The role focuses on the design, delivery and quality assurance of applied health research, with particular emphasis on evidence synthesis, cost-effectiveness evaluation and the use of large routinely collected datasets in areas including diabetes and cardiovascular disease. You will work with a large multidisciplinary team of statisticians and epidemiologists while independently managing your own research workload and objectives.

The postholder will lead and contribute to systematic reviews, health economic analyses and collaborative research projects, ensuring delivery against key milestones and the production of high-quality research outputs suitable for publication and dissemination at national and international conferences. You will contribute to grant and fellowship applications, support impact and knowledge exchange activities, and engage in professional development, mentoring and, where appropriate, the supervision of doctoral researchers. About you

You will have a postgraduate qualification in health economics or medical statistics and a PhD or equivalent professional research experience in a relevant discipline, alongside a strong record of research productivity through high‑quality publications and presentations. You will bring experience of working with datasets in applied health research, excellent knowledge of statistical programming and data management using tools such as Stata or R, and a proven ability to deliver research to agreed deadlines. Experience in the design and conduct of systematic reviews is desirable.

You will demonstrate excellent analytical, organisational and communication skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a research team. You will be committed to conducting research that delivers impact, to sharing expertise through engagement activities, and to contributing positively to the University community. In line with the University of Leicester’s values, you will support an inclusive and respectful working environment and uphold the principles of academic freedom and freedom of speech within the law throughout your work
