About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Research Associate to join the Diabetes Research Centre at the University of Leicester on a full‑time, fixed‑term contract until 31 March 2027. Funded by the Applied Research Collaboration East Midlands, the post will contribute to a programme of research focused on addressing health inequalities and improving outcomes for people living with multiple long‑term conditions. The role is based within the Leicester Diabetes Centre, an internationally recognised environment for research in diabetes, cardiovascular disease and related areas, and offers the opportunity to work closely with national and international collaborators across health sciences and applied research networks.

The post holder will play a key role in designing and delivering high‑quality research leading to peer‑reviewed publications, supporting the development and management of research projects, and contributing to grant applications aligned with the strategic aims of the Centre. You will work collaboratively with colleagues across the University of Leicester and external partners, support junior researchers and students where appropriate, and engage proactively in professional development, research impact and dissemination activities. The University offers a vibrant, inclusive and research‑intensive environment that supports interdisciplinary collaboration and the translation of research into real‑world impact.

About you

You will hold a relevant PhD or equivalent qualification in health services research, epidemiology or a related discipline, with post‑doctoral research experience and a strong track record of research productivity. You will bring experience of data management, systematic reviews and meta‑analyses, protocol development and contributing to peer‑reviewed publications, along with the ability to support research teams in the acquisition, evaluation and interpretation of data. Experience of working with diverse populations, contributing to funding bids and presenting research to a range of audiences will be advantageous.

You will be highly organised, able to prioritise effectively and work to deadlines, with excellent written and interpersonal communication skills and proven project management capability. You will be committed to working collaboratively and ethically within a supportive research culture that values openness, inclusivity and academic integrity. The University of Leicester is committed to upholding freedom of speech and academic freedom within the law, and candidates are considered on merit and suitability for the role, regardless of lawful viewpoints or the expression of challenging ideas. We welcome applications from all backgrounds and are proud of our inclusive, inspiring and impactful community as Citizens of Change.
