About the role

In this role you will take a proactive approach to research by developing collaborations, producing high‑quality outputs suitable for submission to future REF exercises, pursuing external research funding with colleagues, and contributing to conferences, seminars and the wider research profile of the School. You will also contribute to impact and enterprise activity, engaging with business, policymakers and other external stakeholders where appropriate.

Alongside research, you will contribute to the delivery and development of undergraduate, postgraduate and distance learning provision in finance. This will include designing and delivering teaching, supervising student projects and dissertations, contributing to curriculum development and quality assurance, and undertaking appropriate administrative and leadership duties within the School. The post holder will be responsible to the Head of Department and Dean and will contribute to the strategic objectives of the School through teaching, research and administration.

About you

You will have completed a PhD, or have significant relevant experience, in finance and demonstrate recognised expertise in your field, supported by an emerging record of publications in internationally excellent journals. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience of Fintech, Trading, Financial Markets, Green Finance, Sustainable Finance and Regulation. You will have a developing research agenda aligned with School priorities and show willingness to pursue external research funding and to contribute to research impact and engagement activity. Experience of teaching undergraduate or postgraduate students is essential, along with a commitment to obtaining or holding an appropriate academic teaching qualification or HEA Fellowship.

You will be an effective communicator with strong written and verbal skills and the ability to deliver high‑quality teaching using a range of methods. You will be able to work independently and collaboratively, supervise student research, contribute to curriculum development and academic administration, and support student recruitment, mentoring and professional development within the Department and School.
