About the role

The University of Leicester is seeking an outstanding senior clinical educator to take on the role of University Lead for Simulation within Leicester Medical School. This part‑time appointment (0.2 FTE) is offered for three years, subject to satisfactory educational appraisal, with the potential for renewal. The postholder will provide overarching leadership for the design, delivery and strategic development of simulation‑based education across years one to five of the MB ChB curriculum, working across acute, community and general practice settings. Simulation activity is centred within the University’s state‑of‑the‑art Simulation Centre at Leicester (SC@LE), based in the Robert Kilpatrick Building at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust.

Working closely with academic and clinical colleagues across the University and its partner providers, the role will shape a coherent and innovative simulation curriculum that supports the development of clinical skills, patient safety, communication, teamwork and professional identity. The postholder will lead and support simulation fellows, contribute to assessment and scholarship, and play a key role in ensuring that simulation remains central to a high‑quality, future‑focused medical education. The role is integral to the University of Leicester’s mission to deliver inspiring education and to act as a community of “Citizens of Change”, advancing learning through innovation and collaboration.

A postgraduate qualification in medical education and a track record of scholarly activity in simulation are desirable.

You will be an inclusive and motivating leader, with excellent interpersonal and organisational skills and the ability to inspire colleagues and learners alike. You will be committed to maintaining high professional standards, continuing professional development and the values of the University of Leicester, which emphasise being inclusive, inspiring and impactful.
