About the role

As a Lecturer (Teaching and Research) in the School of Psychology and Vision Sciences, you will join a thriving academic community committed to research excellence and an outstanding student experience. You will be part of one or both of our established research groupings in Health and Wellbeing (with Ageing) and Vision Sciences, contributing to internationally recognised research that demonstrates originality, significance and rigour. You will also develop collaborations across the School, wider College and external partners, enhancing the visibility and impact of our work locally, nationally and internationally.
 
Alongside your research activity, you will play an important role in delivering high‑quality, research‑led teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels within the College of Life Sciences. You may also have opportunities to contribute to the joint Psychology and Psychiatry degree delivered in partnership with Chongqing Medical University. You will provide excellent student support, participate in programme development, and help to shape our teaching and learning environment. As an active citizen of the University, you will contribute to School and College initiatives, leadership and administrative responsibilities, and support key University activities.

About you

You will hold a PhD in a relevant discipline and bring research expertise that complements or enhances the School’s strengths. You will have a growing record of internationally recognised research outputs and clear plans for developing your research trajectory, including the potential to secure external funding. You will also have experience of teaching in higher education, with the ability to deliver engaging research‑inspired teaching and constructive student support. Fellowship of the HEA, or a commitment to achieve this within 12 months of appointment, is required.
 
You will be an excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and external partners. You will be committed to delivering a high‑quality student experience and advancing your discipline through world‑class research, innovative teaching and meaningful engagement. You will also value and embody the University’s core principles of being inclusive, inspiring and impactful, contributing positively to our diverse academic community.
