About the role

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Associate to join the School of Chemistry at the University of Leicester. This position is part of an EPSRC-funded project within the research group of Dr Pulis, focusing on developing innovative approaches to chemical synthesis using organoborane catalysis. The project aims to create new methodologies for molecules relevant to drug discovery, contributing to cutting-edge research with real-world impact.

You will lead the collection, evaluation and interpretation of research data, working both independently and collaboratively to achieve project milestones. The role involves disseminating findings through publications and conferences, contributing to grant development, and supporting the wider research programme. You will also provide guidance to students and colleagues, fostering a collaborative and inclusive research environment.

About you

You will hold (or be close to completing) a PhD in Synthetic Organic Chemistry and have experience in purification and structure determination of organic molecules, including practical knowledge of NMR and MS techniques. Expertise in catalysis, organoboron chemistry, and complex multistep synthesis is essential, alongside a proven track record of contributing to peer-reviewed publications. Strong communication skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and a commitment to professional development are vital.
