About the role

We are seeking a talented and motivated Research Associate to join the University of Leicester’s School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences as part of the UKRI/Horizon Europe-funded 6G-PATH project. This international collaboration involves nearly 30 partners across Europe and beyond, exploring technologies beyond 5G for emerging use cases and early trials. The successful candidate will lead research and development in 6G applications, with a particular focus on eXtended Reality (XR) technologies. You will lead the research and development of a use case based on XR, and delivering impactful demonstrations and publications.

This role offers the opportunity to work within a growing research environment, engaging with leading academic and industry partners across the UK and Europe. You will be expected to support graduate students, present findings at international conferences, and contribute to grant applications and teaching activities.

About you

You will hold a PhD in computing, telecommunications, electronic engineering, applied mathematics or a related discipline with strong expertise in eXtended Reality technologies. A solid understanding of network applications is essential, alongside excellent communication, writing and presentation skills. Knowledge on AI and machine learning is desirable. You should have a proven track record in research and software development, with experience in publishing in peer-reviewed journals and presenting at academic venues.

We are looking for someone who can work independently and collaboratively, manage complex research tasks, and contribute to the wider academic community. Experience in externally funded projects and demonstrator/testbed development is desirable. You will be expected to mentor researchers and engage with external partners to maximise the impact of your work.
