About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic Lecturer in Mental Health Nursing to join our School of Healthcare and contribute to the delivery of an innovative 1 year MSc in Mental Health Nursing practice with leadership. This programme is part of an exciting partnership between the University of Leicester and The Apollo University, within the Apollo Hospitals Group, aimed at transforming global healthcare through collaborative education and research. You will play a key role in shaping a forward-thinking postgraduate Mental Health Nursing MSc curriculum, ensuring it reflects the latest developments in mental health nursing and supports the growth of future professionals.

In this teaching-focused role, you will design, implement, and evaluate course content, provide research-informed teaching, and deliver an outstanding student experience. You will also act as a personal tutor, offering pastoral support and guidance, and Academic Assessor working closely with placement providers to ensure clinical competencies are met. This position offers the opportunity to engage in initiatives that align with our strategic themes of Research Inspired Education and Our Citizens, contributing to the University’s mission to make a positive impact on society.

About you

You will be a Registered Mental Health Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and hold a degree in Nursing (2:1 or above). You should have extensive clinical experience in practice, experience of supporting students in practice and ideally teaching in clinical practice experience. A Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy or equivalent accredited teaching qualification is essential, or you should be committed to achieving this within a set timescale whilst in post. You will have experience of teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level, with a proven track record of excellent student outcomes and progression. Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work collaboratively, and a commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion are vital.

Ideally, you will have or be working towards a Master’s or PhD in a relevant field and demonstrate a sustained profile of pedagogical or disciplinary research. You should be passionate about inspiring students, developing innovative teaching methods, and contributing to the wider academic community. If you are ready to make an impact and help shape the future of mental health nursing education, we would love to hear from you.
