About the role

In this role you will contribute to high-impact clinical research—part of a unit that has secured over £9 million in research grants in the past 24 months—working with nationally and internationally acclaimed investigators in the Leicester Clinical Trials Unit.

Your responsibilities will include designing and conducting laboratory-based omics experiments, analysing complex datasets, and communicating findings through reports and presentations. You will play a key role in the dissemination of research outputs and contribute to publications, while also collaborating closely with colleagues across multidisciplinary teams to drive forward innovative projects in cardiovascular and metabolic health.

About you

You will hold a PhD (or near completion) in a relevant field such as genomics, proteomics or cardiovascular biology, paired with hands-on experience in omics methodologies and bioinformatics analysis. Your academic credentials will be complemented by a demonstrable ability to work independently as well as collaboratively, adapting your approach according to project demands and timelines.

Excellent communication skills are essential, enabling you to articulate complex scientific findings clearly both orally and in writing, and to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders. You will have experience of working in a fast-paced research environment and bring strong organisation, analytical insight and creative problem-solving to your work.
