About the role

As a key member of the School of Healthcare’s Placement Team, you will play an important part in supporting the organisation of professional, accessible and sustainable placements for students across a range of healthcare disciplines. Working closely with Programme Coordinators and Placement Leads, you will contribute to the smooth delivery of placement processes, maintaining accurate records, providing clear guidance, and ensuring policy documentation remains up to date. A central element of the role will be supporting the School’s successful student car lease initiative, acting as a first point of contact and assisting with the collection, release and return of vehicles. This includes taking part in vehicle handovers, completing checks and keeping accurate logs to help the initiative run efficiently.

This office‑based role also involves providing high‑quality administrative support across placement‑related areas such as travel and accommodation expense claims, shared mailbox management, student guidance, and the use of the MyKnowledgeMap (MKM) online portal. You will help coordinate communication with students, staff and external placement providers, offer frontline customer service, and ensure that information is clear, consistent and accessible. You will also support meeting administration, including scheduling, agenda preparation and minute taking, helping the Placement Team maintain high standards of organisation and service.

About you

You will bring experience in administrative or customer‑facing roles, ideally gained within Higher Education or the NHS, and will be confident using Microsoft Office and digital systems. You will be comfortable working independently while also contributing to a collaborative team environment, demonstrating strong organisational skills and the ability to balance multiple tasks. With excellent written and verbal communication skills, you will be able to present clear guidance to students and respond professionally to a range of queries, escalating issues where necessary. Attention to detail, accuracy in data handling, and a methodical approach to record‑keeping are essential to success in this post.

You will be approachable, customer‑focused and responsive, demonstrating a proactive attitude to improving administrative processes. Over time, you will develop a strong operational understanding of the placement landscape and associated procedures, enabling you to support students, staff and external stakeholders effectively. You will embody the University’s values of being inclusive, inspiring and impactful, and will be committed to contributing to a positive, supportive and equitable environment for all members of the University community.

Please note that this role will involve regular outdoors activity - receiving and releasing lease cars from and to clinical placement students respectively.  Cars will need to be checked for damage before and after lease, with clear documentation recorded.  No mechanical background is required but this activity cannot be completed remotely.

Mondays and Fridays are common days for students to collect or return cars.  Notwithstanding occasions when annual leave has been approved, the role holder will be expected to be present on these days of the week. Other half day is flexible.
