The University of Leicester is proud to be part of the UK Nuclear Deterrence Network, a collaborative initiative with King’s College London and the Royal United Services Institute. As part of this network, we are seeking to appoint a Nuclear Deterrence Fellow to undertake independent research on any aspect of nuclear deterrence. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of evidence-based research and policy recommendations, and help build a UK-based community of practice in this critical field. The Fellow will be expected to produce two peer-reviewed articles and two policy papers, and actively support the Network’s activities, including the Deterrence Futures Programme.
Based in Leicester, the Fellow will be line-managed by Professor Andrew Futter and supported through the University’s Mentoring System. They will participate in regular Network meetings, workshops, and conferences, and engage in professional development tailored to their experience. The role also includes contributing to the Defence Futures Fellowship Programme and maintaining a public-facing research presence. Applicants must be UK nationals or citizens of NATO or UK-allied countries.
