About the role
Funded by the Leverhulme Trust, the project will focus on identifying organocatalysis reactions occurring in human cells. You will develop and conduct independent research while contributing to a broader research programme. Your responsibilities will include designing and executing experiments, guiding team members, and disseminating research findings within the academic community. 

You will also be expected to present results at scientific meetings both in the UK and internationally, and participate in general laboratory activities to ensure efficient lab operations. Adherence to health and safety procedures and assisting in the training of new lab members are also key aspects of this role. 
About you
The ideal candidate will hold a PhD, or be close to completion in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, or a related field. You should possess experience in biological chemistry (specifically on the reactivity of biological aldehydes with biomolecules such as proteins), organic synthesis, NMR, mass spectrometry, and enzymology. A proven track record of research productivity, evidenced by publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations, is essential. Knowledge of biologically relevant chemistry is also important, while it will be desirable for the candidate to have had experience in writing scientific manuscripts, working collaboratively, and supervising students.
