About the role
We are looking for a Research Associate to join the department of Health Sciences. 

Your role will be to innovate, develop and carry out independent research, contributing as a team member to the population-based cardiovascular epidemiology and informatics programme, led at the University of Leicester by Professor Umesh Kadam. Your role will involve the development and application of statistical methods as well as guidance on different ways in which observational evidence can be used in risk estimations in the general population with cardiovascular disease and cancer. This post will be working with the Virtual Card-Oncology Research Institute (VICORI) which is a national network of collaborators, with funding from the British Heart Foundation. 

The post will require high-level expertise in biostatistics/medical statistics/applied statistics/epidemiology and identification of evidence reviews, observational patient level data, prognostic modelling and application of novel statistical methods to measurement of outcomes.

About you
To be successful in this role you will hold a PhD in a related subject (Biostatistics/Medical Statistics, Applied Statistics/Statistics, Epidemiology, or Health Economics) and have experience of applying statistical modelling techniques to patient level data. You will have experience using a range of statistical software and the use of simulation-based methods. You will be able to demonstrate your research productivity throughout your career as well as your involvement in innovative, high-level medical research. 
You'll be a strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills, being able to work comfortably both in a team and independently. You will be able to work with minimal supervision, prioritising your own workload to deal with urgent tasks, while maintaining a high standard of accuracy and attention to detail.
