About the role
The University of Leicester is seeking a Lecturer in Computer Science to join the Trustworthy Autonomous Systems Group within the School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences, led by Prof. Shigang Yue. This role provides an excellent opportunity to contribute to world-class research and teaching in areas such as Autonomous Systems, Bio-inspired Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, and Databases. In this role you will undertake research aligned with the School’s strategic goals, producing high-quality publications, securing external funding, and collaborating with interdisciplinary partners across the University.

The School has research links with Space Park Leicester, the College of Life Sciences (including the Leicester Institute for Precision Health and the Leicester NIHR Biomedical Research Centre), and Institute for Environmental Futures at the University of Leicester and aims to strengthen and deepen these research links. The School is a founding member of the College of Science and Engineering’s Centre for AI, Data Analytics and Modelling (AIDAM), and has plans for a future UoL research institute in Data Science.  The candidate should be able to shape and strengthen these aims of the School.

The role also involves mentoring postgraduate researchers, participating in public engagement, and contributing to initiatives that shape the School, College, and University. You will enhance our inclusive and respectful research culture and play a pivotal role in advancing the University’s reputation as a leader in data science and trustworthy autonomous systems.
About you
We are seeking an exceptional academic with a PhD in Computer Science or a closely related field. You should have expertise in at least one of the following: Autonomous Systems, Bio-inspired AI, Robotics, or Databases. A strong track record of impactful research, high-quality publications, and successful funding applications is essential.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to deliver engaging teaching and inspire students in areas such as Cloud Computing, Distributed Systems, Programming, Software Engineering, and System Security. You should demonstrate a collaborative approach to interdisciplinary research and knowledge transfer, with the potential to contribute to innovative curricula and outreach activities.
